COME AND MEET YOUR COUNCILLORS. We welcome your input for community projects. This is your village. Tell us what you would like. We have projects underway and need your input.
Sadly despite all our efforts, with the exception of one family , there has been no interest or feedback regarding the Play area, therefore, as the cost of this is considerable we have decided to put this project on hold. We can revisit this at a later date if there is interest and feedback from the community.
DOGS
There is now a Dog Welfare and Enforcement Officer (previously Dog Warden) covering Tresmeer and surrounding areas. They are contactable Monday-Friday 9am-5pm on 0300 1234 212.
They will be responsible for collecting stray or unaccompanied dogs. Should your dog be collected by this officer the following charges will apply to retrieve your pet.
Release and admin fee £90
There is an additional charge of £50 if your dog is collected out of hours plus a further charge of £17 per day if your dog is placed in kennels.
As responsible pet owners we should ensure our dogs are kept securely and not allowed to wander freely where they can become a nuisance to other residents. The Parish Council has been made aware that there are at least 2 dogs out unaccompanied in the Churchtown Area and there have been complaints of these dogs fouling on or just outside residents properties, they have been observed tearing refuse bags and leaving the contents strewn across the road. There has also been a report that unaccompanied dogs have become aggressive to other peoples animals in their own properties.
The amount of dog fouling has increased significantly despite there being dogs bins at either end of the village.
Finally there were a couple of near misses witnessed by Councillors when a dog was wandering unattended early evening. The dog or a car driver will be involved in an accident unless this issue is addressed.
Please can we ensure our much loved pets are properly supervised when not within our homes/gardens.
BONFIRES
Just a polite reminder for anyone planning a bonfire.
Although not illegal to have a bonfire in your garden there are rules and guidelines that should be followed.
RULES
Safety is an important factor
1. Do not leave a lit bonfire unattended.
2. Burning rubber, oil, plastic or paint cans violates environmental protection laws and can cause significant health issues.
3. Do not use fire accelerants, these can cause the fire to become uncontrollable.
4. It is against the law to allow smoke to drift onto a public highway due to the significant danger it poses and you can be fined £5000.
5. Do not leave drink cans around the fire as the fumes from the aluminium is toxic.
6. Prior to leaving the fire ensure all flames and embers are fully extinguished.
GUIDELINES
Consideration for your neighbours is an important factor
1. Keep bonfires away from outbuildings, trees and fencing.
2. Consider wildlife, prior to lighting check for hedgehogs etc which may be under mounds of earth and leaves.
3. Avoid windy days and be aware of wind direction which could cause smoke in your neighbours garden.
4. Discuss with your neighbours if you plan a bonfire and be considerate. People are entitled to enjoy their outside space especially when the weather is good and it allows them to bring washing in.
5. Time your bonfire to be considerate to others , early morning or early evening are more appropriate.
6. Avoid burning damp or green matter as this causes excess smoke.
7. Dont leave bonfires burning for long periods. They should be finished and extinguished by dusk.

We are delighted to receive your incredibly kind donation of £250.00 to Cornwall Air Ambulance. In 2023, your Critical Care Team attended to a staggering 1,160 missions throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. When every minute matters, your wonderful contribution plays a vital role in ensuring that your crew can swiftly respond to those when they need it the most. Tresmeer Parish Council's continued support is fantastic, especially at this time as we all struggle with increased costs. Please do pass on our sincere thanks and best wishes to all the Councillors. In 2024 so far, our crew has been tasked to 9 missions in the wider area of Tresmeer. I hope this demonstrates not only how important your donation is for our life-saving work but also the impact it has on your local residents. Thank you on behalf of our Crew and all our future patients; for them and their families your support of our work is priceless. With our continued thanks and best wishes, Rachel
A thank you letter has also been received from Launceston Leisure Centre
